2. PET (B1) Reading: "Choosing a Summer Camp"

The Profile:

Elena loves being outdoors and is very interested in animals. She is quite shy, so she prefers a camp with small groups. She doesn't have much money to spend.

The Options:

  • Camp A: "Adventure World" Large groups of 50 children. We do lots of sports like football and tennis. It is very expensive but very exciting!

  • Camp B: "Nature Friends" A small camp for 10 people. We spend the day in the forest learning about birds and rabbits. It is very cheap this year!

  • Camp C: "City Stars" Stay in a hotel in London. Visit museums and theaters. Perfect for people who love busy cities and meeting hundreds of people.

Pregunta: Which camp is best for Elena? Why?

2. PET (B1) Reading: "The Young Photographer" (Part 3 Style)

Objetivo: Identificar actitud, opinión y detalle.

Last year, 12-year-old David won a national photography competition. We spoke to him about his experience.

"I started taking photos when I was eight," says David. "My grandfather gave me his old camera. At first, I only took pictures of my cat, but then I started going to the mountains. I prefer taking photos of nature although it is more difficult than taking photos of people. You have to wait for hours to see a bird or a rabbit."

David’s winning photo was of a storm. "Suddenly, the sky turned dark and it started to rain. I was frightened, but I stayed outside to get the perfect shot. However, my mum was a bit worried and called me to come inside immediately."

Now, David wants to travel to Africa. He believes that seeing wild animals will be a challenging but wonderful experience. He is saving money from his birthday to buy a new lens.

Questions:

  1. How did David get his first camera? A) He bought it with his savings. | B) It was a gift from a relative. | C) He won it in a competition.

  2. What does David say about photographing nature? A) It requires a lot of patience. | B) It is easier than photographing people. | C) It is his least favorite hobby.

  3. During the storm, David felt... A) Calm and relaxed. | B) A bit scared but determined. | C) Annoyed by his mother.

  4. Why is David saving money? A) To travel to Africa. | B) To help his grandfather. | C) To improve his photography equipment.
